Overview

The H2O Advanced Freediving Course is designed for divers who already have a foundation in freediving and want to explore greater depths safely. Students learn advanced breathing techniques, deep equalization methods such as mouth fill, and refine their understanding of human physiology, physics, and body adaptation under pressure.

Throughout the course, participants will strengthen both their theoretical and practical knowledge, gaining the skills to independently plan and execute deeper, safer dives.

  • In-depth theoretical understanding for safe progression and improved results in freediving.
  • Ability to plan individual training sessions and achieve minimum performance goals: static apnea 2 min, dynamic apnea 50 m, and depth 20 m.
  • Graduates are qualified to organize and perform safe dives to greater depths.

Duration

Theory: 6 hours
Breathing and relaxation techniques: 2 hours
Pool training: 4.5 hours
Open water: 6 hours

Theory (6 hours)

  • Equipment for advanced and competitive freedivers.
  • Understanding decompression sickness and its risks.
  • Muscle structure and energy consumption.
  • Training concepts and methods for improving performance.
  • Planning deep dives and managing adaptation.
  • Advanced breathing techniques and pressure equalization using the mouth fill method.
  • Proper nutrition and hydration for freedivers.
  • The 10 rules of safe freediving.

Pool training (4.5 hours)

  • Stretching and warm-up routines.
  • Repetition of correct dive and finning techniques.
  • Practical drills based on different training concepts.
  • Complete dynamic apnea training without fins.
  • Complete dynamic apnea training with fins.
  • Complete static apnea training.
  • Maximum dives in all disciplines.

Open-water training (3 days, 8 hours)

  • Breathing exercises to improve diaphragm and chest flexibility.
  • Visualization techniques and mental preparation.
  • Morning stretching sessions.
  • Independent setup of deep diving lines and buoys.
  • Diving with the use of a lanyard.
  • Energy conservation during dives and proper free-fall technique.
  • Constant weight dives with fins up to 30 meters.
  • Constant weight dives without fins up to 20 meters.
  • Free immersion dives up to 25 meters.
  • Self-rescue, buddy safety, and deep-water rescue procedures.

Instructor

The course is led by Jure Daić, an international PSS Instructor Trainer and one of the most experienced freediving coaches in the region. The practical sessions are conducted by multiple certified instructors to ensure maximum safety and personal guidance.

Membership

All participants must be members of the H2O Team Association. Annual membership fee: €30.

Location

Theory and pool sessions are held in Maribor, Ljubljana, and Krk.
Open-water training takes place on Krk (Croatia), which offers ideal conditions and safety even in unstable weather.

Requirements

  • Minimum age: 15 years.
  • Successful completion of the PSS Freediver course or equivalent certification from another agency.
  • The course is not recommended for individuals with heart conditions, chronic sinus problems, or ear infections.
  • Personal equipment is not required but recommended. Please do not purchase gear beforehand—guidance will be provided during the first lessons.
