Overview

The Freediving for Primary School Students course introduces young participants to the underwater world in a safe, educational, and fun way. Designed for children aged 10 to 14, it focuses on safety, correct breathing, and the fundamentals of freediving through engaging theory and pool sessions.

Goals

  • Learn about safety principles and basic freediving techniques.
  • Understand and correctly use ABC equipment (mask, snorkel, fins).
  • Explore the basic physics of the underwater environment.
  • Develop correct breathing habits and pre-dive preparation.
  • Learn proper pressure equalization for ears and mask.
  • Recognize potential risks and how to avoid them.
  • Understand the importance of buddy safety and learn proper guarding techniques.
  • Get to know pool disciplines of freediving.
  • Improve breath-hold performance and underwater comfort.

Course duration

Theory: 2 hours
Pool practice: 2 hours

Instructor

The course is led by Jure Daić, an international PSS Instructor Trainer and Head of the Freediving Section at PSS Worldwide. During practical sessions, up to three assistant instructors help ensure safety and individual attention.

Location

Theory and pool sessions take place in Maribor and Ljubljana.
With sufficient interest, additional sessions can be organized in other cities with pool facilities (minimum 4 participants).

Participant info

  • Age: 10–14 years
  • Ability to swim independently is required
  • Personal ABC equipment (mask, snorkel, fins) is mandatory
  • Group size: 4–6 children
  • For larger groups, an assistant instructor is present (maximum 6 children per instructor)
