Overview
The H2O Freediving Beginner Course is designed to teach you the essential skills for safe and efficient freediving. Through a structured combination of theory, pool sessions, and open-water dives, you will learn how to breathe correctly, equalize pressure, extend your dive time, and perform safe rescues.
By the end of the course, every student achieves a confident and controlled approach to depth, relaxation, and underwater awareness.
Minimum goals:
- Static apnea: 1 min 30 sec
- Dynamic apnea: 40 m
- Depth: 10 m
Course structure
- Duration:
- Theory: 9 hours
- Breathing & relaxation techniques: 2 hours
- Pool training: 3 hours
- Open-water sessions: 6 hours
Theory (9 hours)
- Learn the core knowledge every freediver needs to dive safely and effectively:
- Freediving equipment: correct use and selection
- Traits of successful freedivers and stress management
- Physics of water and gas behavior under pressure
- Human anatomy and physiology for breath-hold diving
- Breathing techniques before and after dives
- Freediving safety and risk prevention
- Rescue and buddy system protocols
- The 10 rules of safe freediving
Pool training (3 hours)
- Hands-on skill development in a controlled environment:
- Stretching and warm-up routines
- Correct finning technique and body alignment
- Equalization problem-solving
- Simulation of deep dives
- Correct breathing patterns before and after dives
- Static and dynamic apnea exercises
- Safety and maximum attempt supervision
Open-water training (3 days / 8 hours)
- Progressive depth adaptation and real freediving experience in the sea:
- Breathing and relaxation exercises
- Equipment check and proper weighting
- Advanced equalization techniques
- Descent along the line and turn at depth
- Gradual adaptation to pressure and depth
- Constant weight dives up to 20 m
- Buddy rescue from depth
- Spatial orientation in open water
Instructor
The course is led by Jure Daić, an international PSS Instructor Trainer with years of professional freediving and safety-diving experience.
Practical sessions are supported by additional certified instructors to ensure full individual attention and safety.
Certification & requirements
Upon successful completion, participants receive:
- PSS Freediver International License
- PSS Freediver Diploma

- All participants must be members of the H2O Team Association (annual fee: €30).
